BETTER DAYS

Second collaboration with the Royal Television Society Award Winner for Best Sound, Lewis Jones, this short movie has been probably one of the most interesting, audio wise. This is not yet another Zombie Movie, it is a somewhat tragic and funny film, with very dark tones and visuals.

My mix reflected that world, enhancing the with rawness of the sound design and playing with the ambiences to create sonic imperceptible changes that all contribute to the flow of the film. Experimentation in this movie has been a key word, especially during the transitions between the scenes, where one sound dissolves and/or mutates into another one, transporting the audience to a new scene without them even realizing it.

DEBORAH

From the Screen Academy Scotland, an Edinburgh Napier University production, on which I had the pleasure to work on as Final-Mixing Engineer and Assistant Sound Designer. Collaborating with the Royal Television Society Award Winner for Best Sound, Lewis Jones, we recreated external ambiences of the movie and augmented the elements already present from the on-set audio.

With Lewis' ambiences and foley and my mix, we achieved to create a solid and engaging audio world, masking the problems of the on-set dialogue recording, typical of the windy Scotland's outskirts. Moreover, my skills as audio repairer were also tested a great deal, managing to clean the audio from unwanted noises, still retaining it's organic properties and feelings

THE FINEST MODEL

I worked on this project as Final-Mixing Engineer and Assistant Sound Designer, collaborating with Lewis Jones and Dee O'Leary. What I like the most about this project are the ambiences: most of the movie is silent, and the sounds we hear are an augmentation of various room-tones and general ambiences, which, thanks to my mix and automations, evolve without letting the viewer noticing. Each scene has its own sonic imprint and all of them contribute to the image's perspective.

This movie was also used for another project of mine, S.T.R.E.A.M.. Due to contest regulations and copyrights, I cannot post the videos of my system working on the movie, however, if needed I can provide a private streaming after getting clearance from the director Tatiana Matranga.

UNDER THE TABLE

This unusual project has seen me working as mixing engineer and assistant sound designer. The very short movie has been by the young director Anton Kudryashov Jr. as submission to enter the American University of Southern California. The film was very successful, and it could not have been otherwise. The peculiarity of this film mainly resides on the fact that the viewer cannot see anyone's face. This means that audio-wise, some elements will need to be more emphasized since no expressions are shown, as well as the sound design and foley will need to be very carefully crafted, since the viewer is more likely to concentrate on the actor's movements and gestures.

From an audio perspective, other challenges included recreating an "under the table" effect, without making the sounds too muffled. I had to recreate a division between the "under the table" sounds and the "above the table sounds", still manipulating the audio so that they felt like they belong to the same space. It has been a pleasure working on it.

JEFF & LISA VS.

This is the second project I worked on for Outer Limits Productions, a production company founded by students in Edinburgh, seeking to create professional content, with space for experimentation and professional growth. The sci-fi web-series is now on its second season, and my involvement saw me taking care of the final mix and some of the sound design (mainly done by other collaborators) for a couple of episodes of the first season, and almost all of the second one.

Because of the low budget, usually I have found myself in using my audio-repair expertise and mixing skills in order to get the best results possible. Surely this project has challenged and made me grow professionally. Moreover, it trained me for real-life situation and in creative problem solving.

BRAIN FOOD

There are never enough zombie movies. Outer Limits Productions wanted to contribute to this genre and created Brain Food. The film was an ambitious project, successfully concluded. My involvement saw me working as a Sound Designer and Mixing Engineer, taking care of most of the audio production for the short movie. Due to unfortunate recording situations, my involvement also meant the possibility to clean up and restore corrupted audio files.

As Jeff & Lisa Vs., this project has challenged and made me grow professionally. training me for real-life situation and creative problem solving.

FIRENZE A U.F.O.

Italian project by Claudio Bandelli and Iacopo Paradisi. The city of Florence found interest in the project and sponsored it, hosting a presentation in the majestic Salone dei 500 in Palazzo Vecchio, one of the most famous conference rooms int he world. This web-series wanted to investigate both the city of Florence and its most famous citizens and stories. I worked as audio editor, mixing engineer and audio restorer, due to the difficulties found recording the on-set audio. Moreover, I composed the musics for the episodes, as well as the opening theme, alongside Pietro Spinelli (Cucina Sonora).

MÄ€YÄ€ â€‹1.0

Italian project directed by Antonio Messana (Fatti Veri Prodaccion, New York Film Academy and La Femis). As for Firenze a U.F.O., in this project I worked as audio editor, mixing engineer and composer, alongside Pietro Spinelli (Cucina Sonora).

A very interesting project exploring the idea of real life vs digital world and artificial intelligence.
